From some point of views I could be considered a CrossFit “OG.” My first experience with CrossFit was in 2008 where a buddy and I were taking dumbbells to the park and using a taped-up pull-up bar to kip pull-ups. Things have come a long way since then.

I have now been doing CrossFit at a competitive level since 2011 when Regionals were held behind Reebok headquarters on sheets of plywood. I’ve seen the progression into arenas that seat thousands of people and require hours of training everyday just to get there.

As an athlete, I never thought of myself as talented or gifted. From early on in my training I became addicted to the challenge. Acquiring new skills, building strength and pushing myself everyday has been the greatest. It was a sport that had no ceiling, and didn’t have a barrier to entry — with the added bonus of being able to compete against someone else and see that your work has amounted to something.

At this point in the game, training is a full-time job. While a few athletes around the world can make training their full-time job, others have to balance working other jobs and doing everything they can to get training done. And this is where fueling my training comes into play. My schedule ranges from when I train, to how much time I have to get everything I have planned done.

I have been using 3FU3L and 3CARB for the past 5-6 months and the versatility is exactly what I need for everything I do. Sometimes I will use it right at the start of training because I know I have a long session ahead of me. Or other times it’s the perfect post-workout drink after a shorter session when I need to move onto the next task of the day. I have also begun to use 3CARB as a morning supplement to help me stay hydrated throughout the day. One scoop in the morning mixed with some other daily supplements helps keeps me hydrated all day long and keep me from getting behind, especially in the summer.
