”I HAVE BEEN IN HIGH LEVEL ATHLETICS FOR ALMOST 20 PLUS YEARS AND NEVER HAVE I FOUND A PRODUCT LIKE 3FU3L AND WILL BE A LIFETIME AMBASSADOR. I DON’T ATTACH MY NAME TO ANYTHING I DON’T 100% BELIEVE IN FROM THE ROOTS ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP.”
I’ve spent my entire life with “my head in the game” from the first steps to my last I played any and every sport there was, and always on a competitive level. My main focus was football but I competed in Golf, Snowboarding, Skiing, Skateboarding, Baseball, Soccer, Tennis, Basketball, Hockey, Track & Field and even spent a few years on Cross country running and Badminton team.
In 1998 I had an accident that left me paralyzed T-6/7 and from then until now I have been working hard every day to prove a disability is just an opportunity to challenge sports and fitness from a different perspective. I continued with sport post accident and got the opportunity to compete on Canada Men’s Wheelchair Basketball Team in 3 Paralympics games in 2000, 2004 & 2008 winning 2 Gold’s 1 Silver as well as 2002 Bronze and 2006 Gold & MVP in the World Championships. I played my University Years for the University of Illinois and was captain of Team Ontario thru 2002 -2009 where we won 5 gold & 3 sliver at Nationals along with 15 plus all-star awards internationally and Nationally.
After stepping away from the National team in 2010 to get married, start a family. I started to coaching OBA U16 rep able body basketball & Crossfit at Crossfit Indestri. Through my years at the Olympic and College level of wheelchair sports I realized that the fitness training was scattered and trying to mimic able bodied training. I had been CrossFitting for about 2 years before I took on getting my Level 1 coaching cert where I started to really push the adaptive movement with a few other adaptive superstars through the power of social media. Recognizing that the amount of wheelchair athletes doing this type of fitness was little to none, I decided to start really breaking movements down. Started looking at the fundamentals of them and how adapting them to a wheelchair was beneficial to the athletes. Through this process we noticed coaches were struggling to program WODs for adaptive athletes without overloading and using the same exercises over and over again. So myself and co founder Tyson Hornby, (co owner of Indestri) developed a seminar, a personal training website and online programming/coaching called WheelWod www.wheelwod.com will be launching in january 2015.
After all this training and self exploration and change over 4 years, I am now training to once again for the national team 2015 para pan ams and 2016 RIO.
To be honest, I started using 3FU3L because of BMack, I have always been looking for a clean fuel source and I was first introduced to Brian after I uploaded a video of me adapting Crossfit Open WOD 13 (At this time the amount of adaptive athletes using wheelchairs and doing CrossFit were about a total of 5 that I could find. Since then the movement has exploded and I am stoked to be in on the grass roots of it.).
When I met Brian, I was just starting to train to take on a mountain adventure race, a marathon and a triathlon all in one summer. I had just been exposed to CFEndurance and was a virgin to the endurance game… I immediately was drawn to the style and teachings of MacKenzie and through following him I learned about 3FU3L. I figured if I guy as innovative as Brian was part of this development of a product i should check it out. I tried it myself and researched into what exactly was so special about the product. I learned 3FU3L is better on so many levels, including better performance output, recovery and pre workout energy. But it was the clean fuel source that attracted me and keeps me coming back. I have been in high level athletics for almost 20 plus years and never have I found a product like 3FU3L and will be a lifetime ambassador. I don’t attach my name to anything I don’t 100% believe in from the roots all the way to the top. If you are looking for that next level then try it yourself, the product speaks for itself and is always adapting to change with todays athlete. I am proud to be part of the 3FU3L army and spread the word across the world.
